How can I escape the engineering room?

A tool would come in handy. Luckily one unconscious crewman has exactly what you need.

Take the wrench from the crewman on the second floor and use it on the pipe. Make sure you tap for a closeup of the label.

Looks like you need to access the override valve inside the fan. Sounds risky.

Why not try putting a wrench in the works?

Stick the wrench in the fan to block it, then flick the switch.
