“I have learned that you are in grave danger,” said the onetime assassin. “It is going to take all your expertise to come out of it unscathed.”

Warren appreciated the heads-up.

He was also curious what expertise Calvin had in mind. Warren was an expert in a variety of arenas.

In the last ten years, he had shown himself to be a world-class chef, distinguished himself as an amateur poet and, more recently, taken up origami. When it came to the bodyguard’s expertise, one had an embarrassment of riches from which to choose.

“Would an omelet with Manchego and scallions help?” he asked.
